Fire and Safety Information

Fire safety is everyones responsibility, especially when living in a multi unit building.  Lock and Key Properties ensures that all units have working smoke and CO detectors in every unit and building.  It is imperative that tenants or their guests NEVER TAMPER WITH, REMOVE OR COVER ANY SMOKE OR CO DETECTOR.  If you ever notice an alarm chirping or malfunctioning please notify Lock and Key Properties immediately.

Fire safety tips to consider

• If your alarms sound, safely and quickly exit the building and CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY!

• If you see or smell smoke, safely and quickly exit the building and CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY!

• Familiarize yourself and others that may come to visit with all exits.

• Keep some 9volt and AA batteries in stock incase of battery failure.  If you can't acquire batteries please ask and we will provide them to you.

• Avoid using candles, space heaters, smoking in the building.

• When cooking be sure to attend to the stove or oven while it is turned on.

• Do not overload plug outlets.

• Limit the use of extension cords.

• DO NOT use gas, charcoal or other grills, fire places, fire pits or outdoor heaters on wooden decks or near the building structure.

• DO NOT block or obstruct windows, doors or hallways.

Other safety considerations

• Do not use extension cords in walkways, hallways or across doorways.

• Do not store any items in common areas.

• Close and lock any common entrances.  

• Report any missing or non-working lights in common areas.

• Use provided salt to keep all walkways, stairs, sidewalks and porches free of ice and snow.
